Monday Night Women's River Ride
Rating: 1,C 26 mls. Meets at McClatchy High School, 3066 Freeport Blvd.
at 5:30. Ride leaves at 5:45. This ride is flat and goes through
south Sac to Freeport on Hwy 16, over the river and follows the levy
roads back to West Sac and downtown Sac. This is a great ride to practice
pack riding and pace lines. Starts in April after daylight saving time.

Rating: 1,D 27 mls. Meets at McClatchy High School, 3066 Freeport Blvd.
at 5:50. Ride leaves at 6:00. Same route os the Women's Monday ride.
This group is very fast and windy which makes this ride technical. Please
buddy up with someone prior to doing this ride. Good pack and pace line
skills are a requirement.
Wednesday
Generic Route
Rating: 2,B 30 mls. Meets at 5:30 at Guy West Bridge at the back of Sac
State (CSUS) and leaves at 5:45. Rides through the generic route up to
Fair Oaks and the returns down the American River Bike Trail.
Thursday
South River Ride
Rating: 1,D 27 mls. Meets at McClatchy High School, 3066 Freeport Blvd.
at 5:50. Ride leaves at 6:00. Same route os the Women's Monday ride.
This group is very fast and windy which makes this ride technical. Please

Saturday
Folsom/Auburn Road Ride
Rating: 3-4, B-C 30-40 mls, 2 to 3 hours. Meets in the parking
lot of Ashland Station Shopping Center (Coffee Republic and McDolands)
on the corner Auburn/Folsom Road and Greenback Lane at 8:45. Ride leaves
@ 9am sharp. This loop is a moderate pace ride through the beautiful
countryside. Consists of small rollers and Indian Hill (Newcastle). There
are shortcuts for those who don't want to climb Indian Hill.
River Ride: 1, D 40 miles. Leaves City Bicycle Works
at 10am sharp.. Goes out along the Garden Hwy to the
county line and back the same direction. In Summer
the ride returns through Discovery Park and down J
street, in Winter it returns via Hwy160. This is a
very fast and hard ride. Usually has about 50+ riders.
This is a great training ride for racing. Pack and
pace line skills could save your skin.

Usually some kind of hilly ride. It's up to you. Call each other and
other friends, let's see what happens. |

10:00AM from City Bicycle Works, on K St. between 24th and 25th., downtown
Sacramento...Long standing race paced training ride...flat terrain...no
leader...difficulty rating (1) very fast. The ride is known as the "river
ride", it's world famous and has been ranked by Bicycling Magazine
as the 1st or 2nd fastest training ride in the contiguous 48 for the last
three years. Therefore the rating should be "c" or even "d". |

Blvd. Parking across the street by the Apple Box
coffee shop. Rides are fast paced (19-21mph) through
Chileno Valley and surrounding areas. Terrain is
rolling easy grades to moderately hilly.
Sunday Rides - Sundays are currently the same ride
as Saturdays. However, if you are not up to our
usual pace watch here for future ride schedules that
will be designed for all levels. |

Thanks to all who have joined us for the Wednesday
Night Rides. Turn out has been pretty good during the
infancy of this new ride, however, as winter approaches
and darkness falls so much earlier, it appears we are
going to put this ride on the shelf until spring. Look
for the new and improved WNR coming in the Spring of
1999.

am (Note: New starting time Nov 1st) Meet
at the Delta Freewheeler on Main Street (Hwy. 4) in
Oakley. 2 routes: 1) Short, no drops. Approx. 30 miles
regroups occasionally. Easy casual pace. Good training
ride for those who would like to learn how to ride
in groups. May stop for bagels in Brentwood, so bring
money. 2) Approximately 40 miles (or more), moderate
to fast pace. Show and go unless prearranged. NOT a
no drop ride, does not regroup. Sometimes ends up in

TRAINING RIDES: Join members of the Valley Spokesmen Racing
Team and Lawrence Livermore Cyclotrons for daily noontime
training rides. Rides are 20-25 miles at a fast/brisk pace.
Meet at 12 noon, Monday through Friday, at the Lawrence
Livermore National Laboratory Visitors Center on Greenville
Road. (Take I-580 to Greenville Road exit, go north on
Greenville for about 3 miles, parking lot for the Visitor's
Center is on the right, look for the flagpoles). For ride/course
