I've been cycling for over 20 years. In that time I've gone through three or four "favorite" bikes. My current (and probably all-time) favortie single bike is a Merlin. But weekends I'd rather be on the back of that CoMotion tandem!

Although I've put thousands of miles into centuries and metric centuries over the years, I still delight in casual club rides of 50 miles of less (sometimes much less!). I've also toured in France, Italy, Colorado, Alberta, British Columbia, New England and, of course, throughout California.

I'm proud to say that, during the 80s and 90s my "Pedal Tours" column in California Bicyclist magazine won a loyal following. You can still read many of those columns in my book, "Pedal Tours of Northern California," available at many bike shops around the Bay Area. Now, for BikeCal.com, I enjoy telling you not only about some of my adventures, but also about what the The Biking Life is like for many fellow enthusiasts of all stripes.
