| "Team LaS'port was founded in 1983 at Dominick's (the old Wednesday night all-you-can-eat spaghetti place) in the Shreve City Shopping Center. Our first year's membership was five. In later years we increased our USCF licensed enrollment to as many as 27. There was later a lull in membership until recently as we have experienced a resurgence that has seen our numbers approach more than 30! There are a few current members who were there at the beginning. While we were founded as a competitive cycling club, we have always had a wide mix of riders including hard-core bike racers, triathletes and recreational riders who just want to enter a race every now and then. We allow anyone to join the team and having a racing license is not a requirement, however we do recommend getting one if a member wants to race. Team LaS'port has been able to field formidable teams in virtally every category over the years and its members have done well in state, regional, and o Team LaS'port made the decision to include affiliation with the National Off-Road Bicycling Association (NORBA) for 1998 and beyond. There are several members who participate in off-road racing and affiliating with NORBA is to the club's and its members' advantage." |
