Bike-toberfest 2017
9/23/17 McCloud Bike-toberfest: McCloud, CA. A variety of mountain bike and road bike rides, plus the ever-popular cyclo-cross races. Rides take place on both public and rural roadways, including the Great Shasta Rail Trail. Rides finish in downtown McCloud at the Bike-toberfest Festival. Riders and attendees will enjoy live music, brats, and beer while strolling through a variety of craft booths. Whitney Classic
he Whitney Classic is an endurance bicycling fundraiser for Summit Adventure. Over half of Summit Adventure’s annual budget is raised through donations.This 135-mile bicycle fundraiser ride traditionally starts at Badwater, Death Valley (-282 feet), which is the lowest point in the continental United States and ends 135 miles away at the Portal to Mt.Whitney, which is the highest mountain in the continental United States. Due to a safety study in DVNP in 2014 the 2014 and future Whitney Classics follow a new route. The 2017 route begins in Lone Pine, Ca and ends at the Portal to Mt Whitney 132 miles later. The 2017 route will provide plenty of challenge as it includes over 14,900 ft of elevation gain. Summit Adventure is a non-profit Christian wilderness organization that uses adventure programming, service, and cultural immersion as tools to challenge people of all ages and backgrounds to a spiritual, physical, emotional and relational adventure. Funds raised will go toward Summit Adventure’s general fund, which includes programs for youth, families, schools, churches and individuals with disabilities.
