Thanksgiving Day Ride

Thursday, November 22, 2018

Last year when I wrote this description, I expressed my doubt as to whether Trump would follow tradition and  pardon the turkey.  But, he did pardon it. In fact, he has used his pardon power a bit too freely for some peoples taste. This year I’m wondering if he’ll impose tariffs on foreign turkeys. Our holiday turkeys might cost a bit more in an effort to keep those cheap Canadian turkeys out. Well, we can discuss this on the ride. Despite the vacillations in government policy, out rides remain the same. Our routes today are old standards. The long and medium head to the Palisades where we used to see a couple of live turkeys, but they were gone last year. After the Palisades, we head down to the Marina for a break before returning to the start. (The difference between the long and medium  one uses the bike path while the other uses streets.) The short skips the Palisades, and heads directly to the Marina. All routes are short and easy, leaving you plenty of time to go home and have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, probably with good old American grown turkeys. START:  THE “CORNER”, Olympic Blvd, 1 block west of La Cienega in Beverly Hills.  From the Santa Monica Frwy (10), off and north La Cienega 1 miles, L – Olympic 1 block to R- Le Doux. (Long 39 mi and 1100 ft, Medium 37 mi and 1000 ft, Short 27 mi and 600 ft)
