Bird: Bay Trail From Coyote Point Park To Foster City

1/LT/20 Bike and Leader: Pat Greene firstname.lastname@example.org (415) 481-5469 Meet at 9:30 am Start Location: Coyote Point Park This birding ride is co-listed with Golden Gate Audubon, with Cathy Bleier as co-leader. Join us for a ride from Coyote Point Park southward on the Bay Trail. Meet at the parking lot described below (37.589634, -122.325663) at 9:30 AM. We will bike up to 20 miles on a flat, paved trail along open water, marshes, sloughs, small sandy beaches and residential open spaces. We'll look for ducks, shorebirds in breeding plumage (e.g. Avocets, Black-bellied Plover, and possibly Red Knots), Caspian Terns, nesting Osprey and a few passerines. Dress in layers, and bring snacks, lunch and water, since we won't pass places to buy. Bicycle helmets required. Rain Cancels. If the weather is questionable, send your e-mail address to Pat the night before the ride to receive news on the status of the ride. Directions to the start: Coyote Point Park is off of Hwy101 in San Mateo County. When coming from the north, take the Poplar Avenue exit (417). Turn right onto Humboldt; turn right onto Peninsula Avenue. Go over the freeway, and then circle around and into the Park. When coming from the south, take the Peninsula Avenue exit. Turn right onto Airport Blvd. Turn left onto Coyote Point Drive to the park. The park entrance, with staffed kiosk (charge $6), is on Coyote Point Drive about 600 ft after the intersection with Airport Blvd. After you pay, take the second left (about 500 ft past the kiosk) and drive to the end of this road to the parking lot on the bay shore (37.589634, -122.325663).
